Criticising Punjab Government after ludhiana city was ranked 12th most polluting city in India, Punjab Congress on Sunday announced that the party, when voted to power, would include industry-friendly agenda in its election manifesto.
“ludhiana city, once called “California” by the Badals, has bagged 12th position in the most polluting cities in India. It is shame on the face of this present regime which is ruling the state for the last 10 years that they cannot even prevent the industrial hub town of ludhiana from falling into the most polluting cities of India,” said the Congress legislature Party (ClP) leader Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday.
He said that the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Deputy Sukhbir Badal both used to call ludhiana as “California of Punjab” but today, “the reality is totally different. The crime rate in ludhiana is multiplied like anything”.
“Every day, on an average, there are five to six incidents of murders, chain snatching or looting. The present regime has failed to deal with the situation instead they are protecting the culprits. The police is in hand in gloves with the political masters shield these culprits,” he said.
Channi said that the Congress party is committed to bring back the industry to Punjab. “Congress will include industry-friendly agenda in its manifesto also and once after forming the government, we will stand by the industrialists of the state,” he said.
“In Punjab, which was once called the industrial hub, almost every industrial unit is on the brink of closure or moving out of the state today,” he said while blaming the SAD-BJP government for its “corrupt policies”.
“There is no vision for the new industry to come up in the state. The closure or the shifting of the industry causes unemployment, which as a result causes increase in crime graph,” said Channi.
