Campaigning for the SAD-BJP combine candidate in Punjab’s border area, BJP national president Amit Shah advised Congress’ star campaigner and state Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu to “live in Pakistan”, while also declaring to revoke Article 370, if voted to power.
Hitting out at the cricketer-turned-politician Sidhu for visiting Pakistan and “siding” with the neighbours, BJP president Amit Shah asked him to live in Punjab across the border. “If you like Pakistan so much, why are you living in this side of Punjab?” he asked the Congress’ firebrand leader.
Addressing a rally in Pathankot in favour of SAD-BJP combine candidate from Gurdaspur Sunny Deol, Shah said: “This is incident that happened in Pulwama...Pakistan’s terrorists killed 40 of our jawans. And what does minister, (Navjot Singh) Sidhu say — terrorism doesn't have a country. You should go across the Punjab border and live there.”
“He (Sidhu) was happy to hug Pakistan’s army chief. Was he not aware about the atrocities they made on our soldiers and on the people living on the border areas?” he asked.
Claiming that the national security has become stronger under the Narendra Modi Government, Shah said that the BJP-led Central Government’s top priority would be to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, if voted to power.
“Pakistan now clearly understands the importance of national security for India. The Prime Minister’s political will power has given a new boost to our forces and the enemies of India now know how to remain in their limits. We can go to any extent to save our nation and its proud countrymen,” he said.
Blaming the Congress party for putting the national security at risk for saving their vote bank, he said that its national president Rahul Gandhi’s silence on National Conference Party’s demand for having a separate Prime Minister of the J&K state “puts him under dark clouds of uncertainty. They are yet to clear their mind on the status of J&K, which is an important part of the India”.
“On the other hand, BJP government is clear that no power in this world could separate J&K from us,” he said.
