new agri laws will hit poor, middle clas: AAp
Chandigarh: The new agricultural laws introduced by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led centre government was not only anti-farmer but also against the poor, middle class and small traders of the country, senior leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Punjab Legislative Assembly, Harpal Singh Cheema said on Saturday. Ina statement, he said that while the new agricultural laws would grab the land of farmers by giving them to the capitalists, depriving them of their assets; the law related to the stocking of essential commodities would eliminate the poor and traders of the country. Cheema said that the majority of the country’s population was living below the poverty line and there was always a concern to juggle for two time of bread. “With an end on the limit of stocking essential commodities, the capitalists would hoard the food items on a large scale and sell it to the poor at an expensive price. The central government should have come out with new laws for public welfare to remove poverty, but the government instead is working to eliminate the poor by crushing them,” he added. Cheema said that it would endanger the future of the poor as well as the middle class and small traders. “With this law, inflation would be out of control and there would be an increase in black marketing,” he added.
