Improve law and order situation in State: Cong to Govt

Published on:

The Congress on Sunday asked the BJP Government led by Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar in Haryana, to improve the law-and-order situation in the State, provide the existing trade and industry safety and security before seeking fresh investment.

Kiran Choudhry, leader of the Haryana Congress legislature Party said that loud talk and tall promises made by the powers that be fly in the face of the ground-level situation.

In a statement issued, the Former Excise and Taxation Minister said the efforts being made to woo industry and investment by holding Pravasi Haryana Diwas and Global Investors Summit are negated by the poor law-and-order situation in the state which, besides infrastructure, is vital for industry to come and grow.

Elaborating the point, Choudhry said industrialists in Rohtak and other parts of the State were scared of the gangs of goons holding them to ransom, seeking extortion, and forcing them to employ their henchmen.

Only two days ago, a delegation of Sampla-Beri Road Industrial Welfare Society met Rohtak SP seeking safety of their units and workers, she said.

“Besides, the other day, some shopkeepers met me in Rohtak and alleged that they were getting extortion calls from gangsters. When they refused to cough up money, they were set upon by the goons resulting in bullet injuries to three shopkeepers.

The State Government should ensure the trade and industry safety and security before seeking fresh investment. Better start looking at the ground level realities than setting sights high, and talk less and work more,” Choudhry told the Khattar Government.
