Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who also holds the portfolio of Public Works Department, has issued strict instructions to the concerned officials to immediately repair the 35-km stretch of Swarghat–Bilaspur part of the National Highway that has been fractured by big potholes causing inconvenience to tourists.

Singh has issued the orders in the wake of complaints regarding the condition of the National Highway.

The Volvo and Deluxe buses coming from Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Rajasthan and even from the States of South India were finding hard to negotiate the worst portion of the road where the vehicles had to be driven at a speed of 10 to 15 km per hour.

When contacted, Special Secretary PWD lokender Chauhan confirmed that the displeasure of the Chief Minister has been conveyed to the concerned top officials of the Public Works Department with the directions that the work of repairing the road be undertaken on a war-footing immediately.

It has also been directed that the fatal potholes and large cavities on the road first be filled up and patch-work taken up without any delay.
