The three day long annual leadership Conclave 2013-2014 of the IIM, Kashipur, began here on Friday, focusing on how to strengthen the academia-industry relationship amid rapidly changing global business environment scenario.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Gautam, Sinha, Director, IIM, Kashipur, said that the basic purpose of holding such meet is how to benefit both the academic community and the industry sector from each others’ experience and expertise. It is vital on our part to accommodate in our courses whatever there is latest coming up in the industry sector so that our knowledge could be updated with experience.
Similarly, both the industry sector and the academia can do a lot in research activities together. Therefore such interactions are vital, Sinha further said. We had started to organise the leadership conclave between the academia and the industry sector from last year and it would be organised annually, he announced. After the last year’s leadership conclave we also started faculty internship so that the faculty members could know the latest happening in the industry sector, he added. In his remarks Tony George, Group HR Director, Inchcape Plc, saidthat great leaders shape the future may it be on a small scale or large scale. They have a vision to lead and are never truly satisfied with what they have achieved.
More so, he added, such leaders inspire and energise people and always deliver beyond expectations. Industry wants leaders who can lead it forward according to a vision, George further said. The next two days of the event will focus deeper on issues of importance to both academia and industrial community with the key focus on academic research to support industry needs.
