Following complaints of tax evasion against chemist shops in Chandigarh, the UT Excise and Taxation Department on Wednesday conducted inspection at five prominent chemists’ shops in Chandigarh.
“The inspection was conducted at chemist shops namely Kumar Brother at Sector 11, Gupta Agencies at Sector 24, Trilok Chemist at PGIMER, chemist shops at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32 and Government Multi Speciality Hospital, Sector 16,” said UT Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner, RC Bhalla while talking to The Pioneer. He said that we had received complaints that the chemist shops were evading tax by not endowing the customers with bills. The physical stock and records at the five chemist shops were checked. The inspection was underway till the filing of this report.
