The Ambala Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a Haryana Viduyat Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) employee on Monday for allegedly raping a student of Ambala City. She is a student of first year at ITI.
The accused — 40-year-old Anubhuti Viyas, who is a lower Division Clerk in HVPN was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate on Monday and the court remanded him to two days’ police custody.
The victim was 14 years old when he had begun exploiting her and now she is 18 years old.
The incident came to light when the victim attempted to commit suicide by consuming poisonous substance on April 21 and was admitted to the Civil hospital.
After she regained consciousness on April 26, she narrated the sequence of events to her mother following which an FIR was lodged and the accused was arrested.
In her statement to the police, the victim has alleged that she was fed up with the repeated molestation and wanted to end her life.
The victim alleged that the accused was his father’s friend and used to visit the house even after her father had shifted to Delhi. She was living with her mother and brother.
She said that four years ago when her mother had gone to Delhi and brother had gone to school, she was alone in the house.
Viyas came to the house and gave her cold drink laced with sedatives and raped her. The accused also had made an obscene video of hers and later used it as a blackmailing tool.
The girl told the police that on April 19, the accused took her outside and told her to sexually satisfy his boss also so that he gets a promotion. When she refused, Viyas threatened her saying he would post the video on the internet.
