Haryana Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) (ad hoc) on Thursday convened general house meeting at Kurukshetra and passed a unanimous resolution urging the Akal Takht to reconsider the decision of excommunicating Jagdish Singh Jhinda, Didar Singh Nalwi and State Finance Minister HS Chattha.
The resolution came after the supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs, Akal Takht excommunicated the top leaders of HSGPC, including Jhinda, Nalwi and Chattha from the community for "dividing and trying to weaken the Sikhs" on July 16.
HSGMC (ad hoc) held a meeting at 'Dera Kar Sewa' in Kurukshetra, in which Paramjit Singh Sarna, former president of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Jhinda and Nalwi besides hundreds from Sikh Sangat took part. However, Haryana Finance Minister HS Chattha remained absent from the meeting.
Chattha, who was in Chandigarh, said, "We respect Sri Akal Takht Sahib and if there is any invitation, I would certainly go there. I did not get any invitation from Sri Akal Takht Sahib ji", he said.
Talking to The Pioneer, Jhinda said though he didn't get any written communication from Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding the issue and heard it only from the media. "With due respect, the Haryana Sikh sangat on behalf of their leaders has requested our supreme temporal seat to reconsider its decision of excommunicating their leaders". he added.
He said they do not have any identity at individual level and have been fighting for the cause of Haryana Sikh sangat for the last 14 years.
