A day after several students of class V and VI at Gurukul located in Rohtak’s ladhaut village alleged that they were sodomised by senior students and staff members, the Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (HSCPCR) has sought a report from district child protection officer at Rohtak.
The matter had reportedly come to light on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on Sunday when the parents of some students had come to meet them.
“Following the charges of sexual assault at Gurukul in Rohtak, we have sought a report in the matter from district child protection officer and further action will be taken accordingly in the matter,” said Jyoti Bainda, chairperson of Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights.
She said that the report will be submitted by Tuesday in the matter.
A day before, an FIR had been registered on the complaint of five students. The students had narrated horrific tales about how they were being repeatedly sodomised, thrashed and threatened of dire consequences if they disclosed the matter to anyone.
A case was registered under Sections 202 (hiding information), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (crime committed by many with same intention) and 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides Section 4 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act against some senior students and staff members of Gurukul.
Meanwhile, the district child welfare committee visited the Gurukul to ascertain the facts and get the version of the management on Monday. The CWC also announced to conduct counseling of the children and constant follow-up of the matter with the police officials concerned.
