Hry toying with the idea of solar power in State

In view of ample possibilities of setting up 200 MW solar power plant as suggested in a report, Haryana Renewable Energy Department has decided to tap solar power on open spaces between Fatehabad branch and Sidhmukh canals from Tohana head to Kajalheri head.

A committee constituted by Haryana Renewable Energy Department had conducted a site survey to find out possibilities of solar power generation in this area and found that there are ample possibilities of setting up 200 MW solar plant in this 48 km area.

An official spokesman on Thursday said that with a view to ensure maximum utilization of solar energy and promote it, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Fatehabad has found out possibilities of solar power generation between Fatehabad main branch and Sidhmukh branch which is flowing parallel from Baliawala head of Tohana to Kajalheri head.

The Agency had sent a proposal to Renewable Energy Department regarding availability of shadow-less land and possibilities of solar power generation last year.

As per the facts received from Irrigation department, there are ample opportunities of solar energy generation in this 48 km area. The 28 feet wide spare land between 75 feet wide Fatehabad branch and 65 feet wide Sidhmukh canal is open and adequate sunlight is available in this area for solar energy generation.

The location of both canals is from east to west as per which sun rays are available for a long time, stated the Committee findings. The Committee had visited the site on April 9 to assess the possibilities of setting up solar power plant.
