To achieve intended targets under ‘Housing for All’ scheme by 2019, Haryana Government has decided to hold a first-of-its-kind ‘Haryana Housing For All’ expo to bring together buyers and sellers of property under one roof in the state.

A four day ‘Haryana Housing For All expo’ focusing on affordable housing is proposed to be organized at laser Valley, Gurugram next year. The event will be a gallery of the best properties under development with a separate pavilion for projects in the low-cost range.

“The event is proposed to act as a venue for intending property buyers to connect with real estate developers, housing financiers and legal agencies. Buyers can approach and deal with developers of their choice in this mega event,” said a senior official of the Haryana Government while talking to The Pioneer.

He said that the State Government has proposed this event to meet all property needs of buyers and sellers in the state.

A national conference is also proposed to be conducted at the expo, aiming at expanding the scope of affordable housing initiatives in India generally and Haryana in particular. This conference will open up the possibility of re-looking at various affordable housing schemes and approaches, he said.

The national conference will also explore possibility of developing new models, support effective affordable initiatives as they are already unfolding in out shadow cities. The State Government is actively encouraging market driven interventions that cross-subsidize the construction of affordable housing stock, said the official.

Notably, the State Government had constituted a special task force under Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar for the effective implementation of 'Housing for All' scheme, and to ensure that each family in the state has its own house by 2019.

For this, the State Government had also proposed to hire a consultant who is required to prepare city-wise Housing For All Plan of Action (HFAPoA) in Haryana, Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) by carrying out certain preparatory exercise (i.e. door to door survey/collection of requisite data/information, data entry, assessment of urban poor status, devising development options for beneficiaries for verticals etc.).

Apart from this, all the respective departments, boards and corporations involved in the implementation of the scheme, including Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Haryana Housing Board, Haryana Police Housing Corporation and Rural Development Department have been asked to prepare schemes to achieve this target by 2019

In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's flagship project ‘Housing for All by 2022’ Haryana Government had earlier this year also announced Deen Dayal Jan Awas Yojna aimed at providing affordable housing and also, to curtail the menace of mushrooming unauthorized colonies in the state.

As proposed, in the first phase, work to construct houses for the homeless would be carried out in Faridabad, Karnal, Hisar, Yamunanagar, Rohtak, Gurgaon, Sonipat, Panipat, Ambala, Panchkula, Thanesar, Kaithal, Jind, Jhajjar, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Nuh, Fatehabad and Bhiwani. Provision of Rs 7.65 crore and Rs 66 crore for this purpose has been made by the Central and State Governments, respectively.

So far, HUDA has already constructed 6,300 flats under Ashiana scheme. Haryana Housing Board has constructed 15,000 houses for which the allotment process is in progress. Apart from this, 17,000 new houses are under construction. The Haryana Housing Board has so far constructed 83,000 housing units in the state.
