To secure the future of medical students, the Haryana Government has made it mandatory for the private medical colleges and private unaided medical institutions to sign a bond of Rs 10 crore with the Government.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij on Monday said that private medical colleges and private unaided medical institutions would sign a bond of Rs 10 crore so that they do not close down in-between like Goldfield Medical College, Faridabad and leave future of medical students in dark.

Vij said that students have to face many adjustment difficulties in these colleges. The matter of acquiring of Goldfield Medical College is under consideration with the Chief Minister Manohar lal and its decision would be taken soon, said the Minister.

Notably, around 400 medical students were affected as the Goldfield Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, where they had obtained admissions for their MBBS course, was shut down last year without allowing them complete their degree.

later, the Centre had approved shifting or adjustment of the 400 MBBS students admitted during four academic sessions of the closed institute to other medical institutions in the State.

Private medical colleges in the State include Adesh Medical College and Hospital at Shahabad, Kurukshetra,  MM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research at Ambala, NC Medical College and Hospital at Panipat, Shree Guru Gobind Singh Tricentenary Medical College at Gurgaon and World College of Medical Sciences and Research at Jhajjar.

The Health Minister also said that the fee limit has been fixed for MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and other courses in private medical colleges and private unaided medical institutions. This would bring uniformity in fee structure and would end financial exploitation of students, he said.

Vij said that the Chief Minister has given his approval for the fixation of their fee. Under this, the tuition fee including development charges of Rs 10 lakh annually and 1,10,000 US Dollar tuition fee of NRI students has been fixed for MBBS course.

Earlier, private medical colleges used to take exorbitant fee from students. Besides this, private universities and deemed universities would also be covered in the Haryana Private Health Sciences Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admission, Fixation of Fee and Maintenance of Educational Standards) Act, 2012, he added.

The Minister further said that the tuition fee including development charges of Rs 2.80 lakh annually and 44,000 US Dollar tuition fee of NRI students has been fixed for BDS course.

Similarly, the tuition fee including development charges of Rs 1.50 lakh annually and 25,000 US Dollar for 15 per cent NRI seats in BAMS and BHMS, tuition fee including development charges of Rs 60,000 annually and 15,000 US Dollar for 15 per cent NRI seats in BPT, MPT, B.Sc.
