Haryana Police has succeeded in arresting seven people for allegedly killing a person named Anand, who was shot dead over an old rivalry last month in village Karaur in Rohtak.
The police has recovered six country made pistols (315 bore), two country made pistols with magazine, 11 live cartridges (315 bore) and five live cartridges 32 mm from those arrested, said a spokesman of Haryana Police.
He said that with their arrest, 16 cases of murder, attempt to murder and robbery have been unearthed.
All the accused were plotting to kill six more people. Police have arrested them from a deserted place near Suncity, Delhi road and they will be produced in court and further investigation is in progress.
The arrested accused have been identified as Vikas alias Bhadu 19, Vikas alias Bagga 20, Mohit 21, all from Rohtak district and Deepak 25, Sachin alias Shooter 19, Mohit alias Pehalwan 19 and Pradeep alias Poppy 19, all from Sonipat district.
The victim, Anand had an old rivalry with one Anil Chhipi, the key conspirator and his other accomplices. Anand, a resident of village Karaur was shot dead by unidentified persons on April 27 in village fields.
On receiving complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against 20 persons.
The initial investigation revealed that Anand's family is occupying the post of village Sarpanch for many years.
Anil Chhipi and his colleagues living in the village had a long enmity with Anand's family, which resulted in loss of lives from both sides. More than 20 cases of murder, attempt to murder have already been registered against Anil, who is undergoing life imprisonment in a murder case in Sunarian jail, said the spokesman.
It was also revealed that Anand's family is also accused of killing 14 people.
Apart from this, Anand's family has illegally occupied the land of many others of the village. Due to which, Anil Chhipi and other people of the village were engaged in rivalry.
Anil Chhipi, while being in jail, with his accomplices had planned to kill Anand and managed to commit the crime on April 27 in village fields, said he.
Acting swiftly, police teams arrested all seven accused along with weapons from a room located at deserted place near Suncity, Delhi road.
All have confessed of plotting to kill six more people and their involvement in 16 different incidents of crime, the spokesman added.
