The piles of files pertaining to official work would soon be a thing of the past in Haryana Industrial Training Department. For, the State Industrial Training Department is on its way to become first one in the State Government to make its office paperless. The move is aimed at bringing in efficiency, transparency and accountability in the functioning of the Department.

A software developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC) would soon be adopted by the State Department, to do away with the manual file work. The project to be implemented in the Department would cost around Rs26 lakh. With the implementation of e-office project in the Industrial Training Department, as many as 250 employees of the Department would not use manual noting sheets to put up various official works and use e-form only.

While talking to The Pioneer, Haryana Principal Secretary, Industrial Training Department, Anil Kumar said, “The Industrial Training Department would soon implement the e-office project. And, the Department would be the first one in the State Government to go paperless.” He said, “The talks are on with NIC regarding the implementation of e-office project and it is likely to be rolled out soon in the Department. Besides, bringing in operational efficiency in the Department, it would also ensure that the Department's data is secure with simultaneous backup at servers in case of any disaster.”

“The e-office system would enable Government officials to move their files in electronic mode right from the first dealing hand to the decision-making officer. The software will ease the cumbersome and delayed process of files movement from one office to another in the Department and would also do away with the conventional practice of maintaining piles of file records for various official works,” he added.

Apart from this, the Industrial Training Department has decided to begin online admission process in various industrial training institutes (ITIs) in the state from the next academic session. At present, the state has 143 Government ITIs and around 140 private ITIs. “The Department has decided to start online admission process from coming academic session. A software is being prepared for digitisation of old student and new students data/results and for online admission counseling and post admission activities in all Government and private (ITIs) in the State,” said Anil Kumar.

He added, “At present, more than 65,000 students are getting training in various courses in ITIs of the State.” Notably, Haryana had recently become the first state in the country to install biometric attendance system in all government ITIs.
