Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki on Saturday asked the candidates from the state who passed the Civil Services Examination 2017 to make service of the people their motto, provide good governance, and help them realize their aspirations.
Speaking at the Samman Samaroh organised by the District Administration, Gurugram and Mata Sheetla Devi Shrine Board to honour the candidates from Haryana who passed the Civil Services Examination 2017 in Gurugram, the Governor said they would get powers when they assumed charge of their respective positions. But when people come to them with their grievances, they should work to the best of their ability to fulfill their aspirations.
Recalling the words of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who described the civil servants as the steel frame of government machinery, Solanki said civil servants ought to have four ‘Cs’ which stand for Calibre, Capacity, Conduct and Character.
Haryana accounts for about two per cent of the total population of the country but 49 candidates from the state have passed the Civil Services Examination which works out to five per cent of the selected candidates. These include three among the five toppers in the examination.
The State Election Commissioner, Dalip Singh, and Deputy Commissioner, Gurugram, Vinay Pratap Singh, also spoke on this occasion.
