Haryana Government on Friday suspended IPS officer Dheeraj Kumar, whose name has cropped up in a multi-crore heist in Gurugram in August. “The Governor of Haryana is pleased to place Dheeraj Kumar, IPS, Commandant, 3rd IRB, Sunaria, Rohtak under suspension with immediate effect. During the period of suspension, Dheeraj Kumar will be entitled to subsistence allowance as provided in the All India Service (Discipline & Appeal) Rules, 1969,” stated an order issued by Rajeev Arora, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Haryana. “During suspension his headquarter will be in the office of DGP Haryana, headquarter, Panchkula,” the order stated. The case is related to a multi-crore theft from the office of a company in Sector 82, Gurugram in August and Dheeraj has emerged as one of the suspects. During the probe, the police had suspected the total theft amount to be a lot higher at around Rs 15 crore following which the case was transferred to a Special Task Force (STF) of the Haryana Police. Referring to the disclosure statement of an accused to the STF in the case, a Gurugram Court had recently observed that “he has given illegal gratification to (the then Gurgaon) DCP Dheeraj Kumar for hushing up the matter”. The STF had also raided the house of Dheeraj Kumar this week after he did not turn up to join the investigation.
