Haryana Government has suspended Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer, Reagan Kumar, after an inquiry panel indicted him of sexual harassing a 27-year-old woman employee of Utkarsh Society, under the Directorate of School Education in Panchkula near here.

The Chief Minister Manohar lal has ordered to suspend the HCS officer, said Rajiv Jain, media advisor to Chief Minister on Thursday.

A government’s committee had probed the allegations of sexual harassment against the HCS and recently submitted its report to Haryana Chief Secretary DS Dhesi. The HCS officer was arrested on June 7 for  allegedly molesting the woman employee in his office. He was released on bail on the same day.

On the complaint of the victim, the police had booked Reagan Kumar under Section 354 A (for physical touch) and 354 D (for stalking) of the Indian Penal Code.

The complainant had alleged that on May 28, the officer had called her to his cabin and offered coffee which she refused. The woman alleged that the officer on May 29 again called her to his cabin and tried to sexually abuse her, according to the police.

Following the complaint, the State Government had withdrawn work of Utkarsh Society from Reagan Kumar and forwarded the case to the internal complaints committee of the Department.  Reagan Kumar was recently posted as sub divisional officer (Civil), Nuh and Tauru.
