Hry Govt committee for farmers' grievance

Following the protest of political parties and farming community on the issues related to the farmers, the Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana has decided to organise Kisan Panchayats in the State to address grievances of farmers.

For this, the State Government has constituted a five-member team of Ministers headed by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister OP Dhankar which will visit various parts of the State and interact with the farmers to resolve their grievances besides promoting the welfare schemes launched by BJP-led Centre and Haryana Governments in the past three years.

The decision comes a day before the launch of Statewide agitation by farmers’ union in Haryana from August 9 onwards. Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) has announced to begin ‘Jail Bharo andolan’ from August 9 to 15.

The demands raised by the farmers’ unions were discussed at length during the routine informal cabinet meeting chaired by Manohar lal here on Tuesday.

“A five members Ministers committee has been constituted under OP Dhankar to resolve the grievances of farmers,” said Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Kumar Bedi while talking to the mediapersons after the meeting.

The other members of team include Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Public Works (Building and Roads) Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Krishan Kumar Bedi and Minister of State for labour and Employment, Nayab Singh Saini.

Bedi said that the team of Ministers would visit all over the state and organize kisan panchayats on farmers’ issues. The team would also inform about various initiatives taken in the interest of farmers by the government during its last three years regime, said the Minister.

The farmers organisations have demanded immediate implementation of Swaminathan report, loan waiver for debt-ridden farmers, enhanced minimum support price (MSP) on crops among other steps for farmers welfare after Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur incident in which six farmers were killed during police firing.

Apart from farmers’ organisations, Congress and Indian National lok Dal had also held protest dharnas in various parts of Haryana in past two months demanding implementation of Swaminanthan report. While former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is holding kisan panchayats, Indian National lok Dal has held protest demonstrations to lend their support to the farming community.

Meanwhile, Minister Krishan Bedi also said that the present government is completing its three years on October 26, and the golden jubilee year of Haryana would conclude on November 1. A big event will also be organised on this occasion and Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be invited, he said.

During the informal cabinet meeting, it has also been decided to give two weeks time for filing objections under State Carriage Permit scheme 2017 (transport policy). Now objections can be filed upto August 25, added Bedi.

As many as 1034 objections have already been received on the transport policy and hearing of the same would soon be started. 452 routes have been identified for plying of private bus operators under the state carriage permit scheme.

The state cabinet has already given approval to the new state carriage permit.
