Hry Cong camps work separately for Apr 19 farmers' rally

Gearing up to ensure good show at farmers’ rally in New Delhi on April 19, the two warring camps of Haryana Congress are working separately to muster support for the party’s rally.

The State Congress chief Ashok Tanwar and Congress legislature Party (ClP) chief Kiran Choudhry are mustering support by holding meetings in all districts of the State while on the other hand former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda along with his son Rohtak MP Deependra Singh Hooda are toiling hard to mobilise crowd for the party’s national rally.

While preparations to ensure the success of the Delhi programme are in full swing, the rift between the former CM Hooda and HPCC president Askok Tanwar have now come out in the open with both the leaders going their own way and remaining absent from each other’s meetings and programmes.

The farmers’ rally in Delhi has apparently become a show of strength for Hooda and Tanwar who are asking their respective followers to reach Delhi in huge numbers to ensure success of the programme.

Hooda had convened a meeting on April 12 of Congress workers, representatives of farmers and peasant organisations from across Haryana to mobilise support for Congress’ rally while state Congress chief Ashok Tanwar has called another meeting for the same purpose on April 17.

Notably, Tanwar and Kiran Chaudhary had stayed away from Hooda’s  preparation meeting for the upcoming rally at his residence with Sonia’s political secretary Ahmed Patel, general secretaries Digvijay Singh and Shakeel Ahmed (Haryana in-charge) in attendance.

The supporters in Hooda camp have been asked to wear pink turbans and pink dupattas during the party’s April 19 rally in Delhi. On the other hand, Tanwar’s supporters are expected to wear Gandhi caps in tricolor.

Deepender Hooda on Thursday held meetings in Fatehabad, Palwal, Ferozpur among other places to drum up support for the rally. “Your strength will show our strength at the rally and prove that the people of Haryana are with former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda,” Deepender had told the supporters of Hooda camp at a meeting.
