To infuse enthusiasm and motivate booth-level party workers and resolve their grievances ahead of 2019 polls, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal is all set to launch ‘chai pe charcha’ programme in the state on Thursday.
The party has chalked out a plan for the Chief Minister to tour different districts in next three days to connect with grass-root party workers and hear them out over the problems they are facing within the party.
During the ‘chai pe charcha’ programme to reconnect with party workers at grassroot level, the Chief Minister will also take their feedback over the functioning of BJP Government in Haryana and gauge the public mood about government’s performance.
The decision to organize such meetings with party workers have been taken following the directions of BJP chief Amit Shah to improve the coordination with bureaucrats and party workers in the state and also, to bridge the gap between them. Shah has also directed the Ministers to connect with the party workers and general public at booth level.
The BJP chief had recently held a meeting with the Chief Minister, Union Cabinet Ministers belonging to Haryana, state Cabinet Ministers and other senior party leaders to review the preparations for lok Sabha and Haryana assembly polls scheduled to be held in 2019.
Since last year, there has been resentment among the party workers, who are unhappy with the attitude of some ministers and state bureaucrats.
The ‘chai pe charcha’ contact programme will begin on Thursday during which Manohar lal will cover five districts and hold meetings with party workers in Panchkula, Ambala, Karnal, Kurukshetra and Jind throughout the day.
Earlier this year, the Chief Minister had held meetings with office bearers of party district units to take their feedback about the performance of his government.
“The Chief Minister will hold 12 meetings in five districts of the state on Thursday during the ‘chai pe charcha’ contact programme to connect with party workers,” said Rajiv Jain, media advisor to the Chief Minister on Wednesday.
He said that the programme will continue for three days, during which the Chief Minister will visit different districts to connect with the party workers and take their feedback on implementation of government’s welfare schemes.
The party has recently concluded the ‘mahasampark abhiyan’ undertaken to apprize people about the schemes of the Central as well as the State Government besides highlighting the government’s achievements, he added.
In an election mode, the Chief Minister has also been undertaking roadshows in various constituencies and gram sabha programmes to reach out to the rural population in all 90 constituencies of Haryana.
Notably, Manohar lal had last year faced the criticism of his own party MlAs and workers over the slow pace of implementation of his announcements and other development works in the state.
Following the large number of complaints of party workers pertaining to the inaccessibility of Chief Minister’s office and state cabinet in Haryana last year, BJP chief Amit Shah had even made it mandatory for the ministers to remain available to listen to the grievances of party workers twice a week in Chandigarh.
The directions issued during Amit Shah’s visit to Haryana last year were aimed at pacifying the disgruntled party workers and inculcate a sense of belonging among them.
