To improve students’ access to distant schools, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Sunday announced a ‘Chatra Parivahan Suraksha Yojana’. Under the scheme, the state Transport Department will provide bus services for villages with more than 50 students attending far-flung schools, while mini buses will be made available in villages with 30 to 40 students.
In villages, where the student count falls between five and 10, the Education Department will step in to provide the necessary transportation support, said the Chief Minister while addressing the people during Jan Samvad Program at Ratangarh village in Karnal.
“The scheme, which involves the provision of a transportation system for students, will commence from Ratangarh village starting on Monday. The Roadways Department will operate buses, which will be stationed at Rattangarh village at 7 am to transport students to school and back home,” said the Chief Minister, adding that the scheme will be extended to the entire state following its successful implementation in Karnal.
Villages with five to 10 children will have access to facilities like auto-rickshaws, he said.
“This transportation service will be offered to students free of cost. The expenses will be incurred through the District Education Department. This initiative is expected to benefit a significant number of school-going students throughout the State,” he added.
Earlier, the Chief Minister addressed the concerns of the villagers. Out of 26 locations, comprising 20 wards and six Panchayats within the Karnal Assembly constituency, the grievances of the people have been addressed in 23 of these areas through the Jan Samvad program.
Khattar said that the State Government is proactively engaging with villages and wards through Jan Samvad program to address the issues and concerns of the most marginalized individuals in society. The government has effectively extended the benefits of various schemes by implementing the Parivar Pehchan Patra system.
He said: “Farmers are now receiving their land records (fard) through an online system, streamlining the process. Additionally, the disbursement of pensions for the elderly has been automated, with funds being directly deposited into bank accounts. The government has taken the noteworthy step of providing pensions to unmarried individuals above 45 years of age and widowers above 40 years of age.”
Furthermore, it has been decided to increase the pension amount by Rs 250 starting from January 2024, with eligible beneficiaries receiving a monthly pension of Rs 3,000.
Assures swift appointments for Radiographer posts
Addressing another Jan Samvad program at Ratangarh village in Karnal, Khattar said that qualified youth, who have been recruited for the posts of radiographers, will be given appointment soon. Following a document scrutiny process, the subsequent process will be completed within one week.
During the Jan Samvad, several people raised concerns about issues related to plots. In the midst of these discussions, when the matter involving the private builder was brought up, Chief Minister said that this matter is in his knowledge. He assured the people that he would personally look into the matter and work towards resolving the problems faced by the people.
