The Indian National lok Dal, Haryana’s main opposition party, on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Manohar lal of misleading the people of the state about his meeting with Prime Minister Narender Modi last week.
The INlD leaders alleged that the Chief Minister had met the PM on the issue of disgruntled Haryana BJP MlAs and did not raise the important issues of Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) canal and farmer’s woes.
leader of opposition and INlD’s senior leader Abhay Chautala while talking to the mediapersons said that the Chief Minister is misleading the people of Haryana as he did not raise any significant issue during his meeting with the Prime Minister.
If the Chief Minister was serious about the SYl canal issue, he should have taken the entire opposition into confidence before meeting the PM and would not have met him alone, said Chautala.
lashing out at Manohar lal, the INlD leader said that while the people of the state are suffering due to the shortage of water and power, the BJP led State Government is busy in organising festivals.
The BJP Government in Haryana has failed on all fronts and is not at all serious about SYl canal issue, he added.
INlD Haryana chief Ashok Arora said that we have convened State party executive meeting on April 29 to chalk out future strategy. The party will continue raising the issues related to farmers and SYl canal, he added.
He said, the INlD is holding an indefinite protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi since April 6, pressing for their demand of SYl canal construction.
Notably, the Chief Minister had a day before accused the opposition of political gimmicks on the issue SYl canal. Manohar lal had in particular attacked the Congress saying that the opposition should prevent Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh from stopping water flow to Haryana through the SYl Canal.
The Chief Minister has been under fire from the opposition, first for not arranging a meeting with Prime Minister on the SYl issue and later, for meeting the Prime Minister on last Saturday without taking opposition leaders along.
