Setting eyes on party’s ‘Mission 2019’, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, his cabinet colleagues and BJP MLAs in the state on Tuesday began 150 kilometre long march as a part of special  commemoration of Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary.

The saffron party has decided to commemorate the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation to its advantage and reach out to the general public to highlight the achievements of Central and Haryana Governments.

While the Chief Minister began the 150 km long padyatra in his constituency Karnal in the evening, Cabinet Ministers and other BJP MLAs began the walk on Tuesday morning alongwith party workers.

The party leaders also participated in Swachhta Abhiyan organized across the state on Tuesday.

“The ‘Jansampark padyatra’, which began on October 2 will last till Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary on January 30 and would cover 150 km distance in each 90 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Haryana. It will be taken out once a week or more and each day, the MLAs and other party leaders will cover 10 km stretch to meet general public and apprize them about BJP’s achievements,” said a BJP leader.

“Apart from undertaking padhyatra, the party MLAs and leaders will also participate in cleanliness drives at few spots to spread the message of cleanliness in Haryana,” he said.

The party leader also said that in each constituency, local BJP MLA will be leading the yatra and in constituencies where BJP doesn’t have MLA, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs or other party leaders have been given responsibility to carry out the yatra.

Alongwith MLAs or other senior leaders, at least 150 party workers will participate in the walks in each constituency.

Besides highlighting party’s achievements in the past four years, the BJP leaders will also take public’s feedback on government’s performance. The party MLAs has also been asked to hold meeting to listen to the grievances of people of their constituencies during the padyatra.

Gearing up for 2019 Lok Sabha and assembly polls in Haryana, the ruling BJP during its ‘manthan shivir’ at Thapli  in Morni Hills in September had chalked out a detailed plan for massive mass-contact programmes in the four months in the state.

The party will be holding a mega rally on November 1 in Karnal to sound poll bugle for 2019 besides celebrating four years completion of BJP led Haryana Government. The first time MLA, Manohar Lal Khattar had taken oath as the first Chief Minister of the BJP Government in the state on October 26 in 2014.

a mega rally, the saffron party has planned programmes on birth anniversaries of former PM Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and RSS ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya. The party will hold booth level events on December 25, birth anniversary of former PM Vajpayee, which is celebrated as good governance day.

To woo women voters of the state, the party has planned to organize district level women sammelans in the month of October.

Notably, the ruling BJP in Haryana is under fire from the opposition parties over the issues of rise in cases of crimes specially against women, non-implementation of Swaminathan report, non-completion of Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal, de-notification of Dadupur Nalvi irrigation project among other issues.

During its executive committee meeting held in September, the state BJP unit had directed its MLAs to stay in their assembly constituencies and organize various programmes to connect with people at grassroot level and apprize them about government’s initiatives for farmers and women safety. Apart from this, the MLAs were asked to listen to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme.
