Hry claims 80 per cent State is Saksham now

Haryana Government on Thursday said that more than 80 per cent of the state is now Saksham or grade level competent.

After seven rounds of Saksham Ghoshna assessment, 68 more blocks have been announced Saksham in Hindi and Math, thus raising the total Saksham blocks to 94,” said an official spokesman.

Haryana Government will honour all the Saksham blocks at functions to be organised at district and state level scheduled next week. After this round, nine districts have become fully Saksham, he said.

Saksham Haryana is a state-wide education transformation program going on for the last five years. Under the programme, a block with more than 80 per cent students at grade level is declared “Saksham”. The students of grade 3, 5 and 7 are assessed in language (Hindi) and Mathematics on a sample basis. The idea is to raise the learning level of students of government schools in various subjects to the extent that they are at a par with the standard of their respective classes.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal has said that excellent work is being done under Saksham Haryana Project. The test of Saksham blocks would again be conducted next year to maintain their learning level, he said.

Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma has congratulated the teachers and officers associated with Saksham Haryana Project on the result and expressed hope that they would continue to take significant steps for quality improvement of school education.
