The Monsoon Session of Haryana Assembly commencing on Friday is set to be a stormy affair with Opposition –Congress—set to corner the BJP-JJP led State Government on the issues of paper leak, central farm laws, inflation and unemployment.
The BJP-JJP Government could face a tough time during the short session of Haryana Assembly as it would be hard pressed to explain its position on repeated leaks of recruitment exam question papers and answer keys in the state.
Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday chaired a meeting of Congress Legislature Party to discuss issues to be raised during the monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha.
After the meeting, Hooda said the party legislators have given an adjournment motion to discuss the paper leak and recruitment scams. Apart from this, adjournment motions have also been given to suspend proceedings and discuss issues like fake cases of sedition being registered against farmers, damage to crops due to water logging, delay in giving tubewell connections, rising inflation and unemployment.
Launching a scathing attack on the State Government on COVID-mismanagement, he said that the way the government hid the actual death toll due to Corona and lack of oxygen, it is clear that the government does not want to see the ground reality.
“Today unemployment, crime and inflation are at their peak. Haryana is facing four times more unemployment (28.1%) than the country. Scams are being carried out in the name of employment and government recruitments,” he said.
“From the first grade to the medical students, our youth are forced to bear the brunt of the government's policies. From class 1st to 8th, children have not yet been able to get books to read. The way the government has increased the fees for medical courses, it has become impossible for students from poor and middle-class families to take admission in these courses. The level of education in the state is deteriorating today due to the policies of the government,” Hooda alleged.
The State Assembly is likely to witness heated debate over the registration of sedition charges against farmers protesting against central farm laws.
During the monsoon session, the State Government is likely to blunt the opposition attack by highlighting the welfare schemes launched during the COVID-19 pandemic and other steps it has taken for the welfare of weaker sections of the society.
A tentative programme of three days assembly session on August 20, 23, 24 has been issued by the Haryana Vidhan Sabha. The Business Advisory Committee of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha will take the final call on this on Friday.
On the first day of the session, obituary references will be made for those who have passed away in the intervening period between the previous session. This will be followed by question hour and a calling attention motion moved by Congress MLA Varun Chaudhary on the issue of pending tube-well connections.
The State Government will also table six bills namely The Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Deficient Municipal Area (Special Provisions) Amendment Bill, 2021, Maharishi Balmiki Sanskrit University Kaithal (Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Haryana Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2021, The Haryana Enterprises Promotion (Second Amendment) Bill, 2021, Pandit Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts, Rohtak (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and The Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Haryana Amendment) Bill, 2021.
