All 25,962 anganwadi centers in Haryana will be connected with solar power in a phased manner by the State Government.

“The government would spend about Rs16 crore on this project in the first phase.  During this, two fans and three lights would soon be connected with solar energy in 9500 anganwadi centres,” said Haryana Women and Child Development Minister Kavita Jain while presiding over a meeting regarding connecting the anganwadi centres with solar energy system.

She said that this would help overcome the problem of electricity in the anganwadi centres in the state.  This initiative of government would help in improving the ambience as well as increasing number of children in anganwadi centers, said Jain.

The Minister said that Centre Government has instructed all the states to connect anganwadi centers with solar energy. In compliance of this, approval of Chief Minister Manohar lal has been obtained to connect all the anganwadi centres in the state with solar energy, she said. The anganwadi centres which are being run in government buildings would be connected with solar power in the first phase, she added.

Jain also instructed the officers of the Department and HAREDA to start the project as soon as possible after considering all technical aspects.
