Published on:

Haryana Food and Supplies Minister, Ram Bilas Sharma on Monday said all arrangements have been made for procuring wheat during current rabi season and so far 4.50 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has arrived in the mandis. Apart from this, duties have been assigned to officers belonging to the level of Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary to monitor the entire procurement process.

Presiding over a meeting with senior officers of the department to review the arrangements being made for procurement of wheat on Monday, Sharma wanted the entire procurement to be hassle free. He said that he will meet Union Minister for Food and Supplies, Ram Vilas Paswan on April 15 and would urge him to give relaxation in criteria of 12 per cent moisture in wheat as prescribed by the Food Corporation of India. It was informed in the meeting that keeping in view the bumper crop of wheat, an estimated target had been set to procure 110 lakh metric tonnes more this year, but due to unseasonal rains the crop has been affected therefore the estimate may decrease.
