To facilitate around 56 lakh consumers throughout the State and to intensify its ongoing campaign to check the menace of pilferage of power and water, unauthorised extension of load and corruption by the employees of the Haryana Power Utilities (HPU), the Vigilance and Enforcement Wing has got a toll-free number 18001802124.
Rajvant Pal Singh DGP-cum Director Vigilance, Haryana Power Utilities on Thursday said that now the consumers would be able to lodge such complaints on this number throughout the office hours.
The initiative has been taken to expedite the action against the erring consumers who otherwise stupefy the authorities by indulging in such impermissible acts as the theft of electricity or water is a cognisable and non-bailable offence.
He gave instructions to all the field enforcement operation units to conduct special checkings by constituting teams to curb theft of power as the pilferage leads to loss of revenue as well as increase in line losses.
Singh also said that the Irrigation & Power (I&P) police stations located throughout the State have been directed to take stringent action in such cases and arrest the accused immediately.
