lashing out at the Congress Government in Himachal Pradesh for its vindictive attitude towards the Opposition leaders, BJP leader and former Rural Development and Panchyati Raj Minister, Jai Ram Thakur, on Saturday charged the Virbhadra Singh Government for initiating false and fabricated cases against them on flimsy grounds and exhausting its energies on witch hunting for the last 10 months ever since it had come to power.
Thakur alleged that the officers were being forced and goaded for initiating false proceedings against leaders of the Opposition. “Most of the impartial and honest officials had been sidelined by assigning them insignificant and unimportant posts. Those unwilling to follow the wrong and illegal directions were being harassed and mentally tortured for not towing the official line. No wonder all development works had come to a virtual halt,” he said.
The BJP leader said governments come and go, but the present Congress government was setting such precedents which were bound to boomerang on it with greater force. He advised Virbhadra Singh to abstain from following the path of confrontation with BJP and concentrate on development of the state and assured that the opposition would fully cooperate in all matters which would be in the interests of Himachal Pradesh.
Advising the ruling party to read the writing on the wall, Thakur claimed that after the emergence of Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate, a pro-Modi and pro-BJP wave was sweeping across the hilly state as the mega scams in the Congress led UPA government had currently become the talk of the street amongst the youths not only in Himachal but across the country and added that the days of the UPA government were numbered.
He said Congress should not live in fool’s paradise by its accidental victory in the last Vidhan Sabha elections. “The discredit for that goes to us who gave power to Congress on a platter for narrow considerations and personal ego of some stalwarts”, he remarked.
