Amid the political slugfest over the Sutlej Yamuna link (SYl) canal, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday said the State Congress unit will take up the issue with the Centre.
“Haryana Congress unit will request the Centre to get the directions of Apex Court implemented for the construction of SYl canal,’ said Hooda while talking to the mediapersons here. Following refusal of Congress-led Punjab Government to give a single drop of water to Haryana, Hooda said the Haryana Congress would not raise the SYl issue with the State party unit in Punjab.
The Centre was responsible for the implementation of orders of Supreme Court on SYl canal. Hence, the issue would be taken up with the Centre, he said.
launching a scathing attack on BJP-led Central and Haryana Government, he said that BJP Government was betraying the farmers. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna, farmers are being forced to pay a heavy premium to the advantage of private insurance companies, he said.
Such companies earned Rs 17,185 crore premium while they gave only Rs 6808 crore compensation to the farmers during Kharif season, he alleged. Similarly, during this crop season, such companies earned profit of Rs 10,377 crore, he added.
Hooda, who has been holding kisan panchayat in various districts of the state said that the BJP has also failed to keep its promise of implementation of Swaminanthan report.
The two-time Chief Minister further alleged that the government not only cheated farmers but also traders, who are suffering due to the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax.
