Hooda terms CBI raids as political conspiracy

Two days after CBI raids at his residence over alleged irregularities in the acquisition of 400 acres of land in Gurgaon district by builders, Haryana former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday alleged political conspiracy and vendetta behind the CBI inquiry.

“In this case, an FIR was registered first and then, CBI conducted preliminary investigation.  Generally, CBI carries preliminary investigations before registering any complaint. Once state registers the FIR, CBI does not conduct the preliminary investigations. But all this is happening in these cases because of political vendetta,” said Hooda while talking to the mediapersons in Rohtak.

He also dared to the Manohar lal Khattar led BJP government in Haryana to prove charges against him and also, demanded an inquiry by sitting judge of Supreme Court or High Court.

“BJP Government would not even hesitate in taking my name… in whatever (fights) happening in Syria,” said the senior Congress leader.

The former Chief Minister said that the Khattar government has been vindictive against him and thus, such raids are being conducted.

Hooda also sought CBI probe into the alleged mining scam as well as violence during Jat reservation stir in the state.

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal Khattar, while reacting to Hooda’s allegations said that CBI is an independent agency and the State Government doesn’t interfere in its functioning.

Khattar said Hooda had, in the recent session of the assembly, said that he was prepared for any investigation, but when the probe begun, he started levelling allegations.

He also said that the investigation has just started and investigation is not a punishment.

The CBI had on Saturday conducted raids at 24 locations in Delhi and Haryana, including the premises of former Haryana CM  Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his associates, over alleged irregularities in the acquisition of 400 acres of land.

This land was bought from Gurgaon farmers during 2004-2007, during the reign of the Congress government, at throwaway prices causing a loss of over Rs 1,500 crore to the national exchequer.

CBI teams had searched the homes and offices of Bhupinder Singh Hooda, two former IAS officers, including Principal Secretary Ml Tayal, UPSC member Chattar Singh, a serving IAS official S.S. Dhillon Dhar Singh, former chief town planner in Town and Country Planning Division (now retired) Atul Bansal and the director of ABW infrastructure in Delhi and Haryana's Gurgaon, Rohtak, Chandigarh and Panchkula areas.
