Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday boycotted the inaugural event of Haryana’s swarna jayanti year celebrations at Gurugram.
Hooda alleged that the mega event organized at Gurugram is not government’s function but BJP party’s function.
The senior Congress leader while talking to the mediapersons said, “I have received the invitation but I will not go due to self respect.”
lashing out at the Manohar lal Khattar led Haryana Government, he said that BJP government should focus on fulfilling its poll promises instead of spending money lavishly on such events. The State Government is already reeling under huge debt,” he said.
While Congress leaders gave a miss to Gurugram event, district level functions were organized by the party to celebrate 50th anniversary of Haryana.
Haryana MlA and Congress communications chief Randeep Surjewala presided over 'Haryana Gaurav Samman'' at Panchkula and honoured as many as 30 distinguished personalities in the field of freedom struggle, sports, bravehearts, industry, farmers, diarying, education, social service, literature. culture, entertainment and movies belonging to the state.
Among those who were honoured included olympic medalist Vijender Singh, actor Meghna Malik, actor Yashpal Sharma, Indian Athlete Krishna Poonia and parents of Udhampur Martyr Rocky Singh.
