Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda sought to remove grievances of the residents as well as the Congress leaders of the region with several populist announcements during his visit.
Hooda accepted the long pending demand and announced that Meerpur Regional Centre in Rewari will be upgraded to a University, which would be named after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He also announced that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would lay the foundation stone of country’s first Defence University in Gurgaon on May 23.
Addressing Vikas Rally in village Meerpur in Rewari on Thursday, Hooda said that his Government is paying full attention to the development of all the areas of the State including Rewari. “Even today, I have dedicated eleven projects costing over Rs160.64 crore to the people of this area, for which I have either laid the foundation stone or inaugurated the project”, he said.
Dispelling the notion of biased development in the State, the Chief Minister said that his Government has made schemes for the development of all areas and for the welfare of all sections of the society in the State. He specifically mentioned welfare schemes being implemented for farmers, women, traders and labourers.
Hooda also announced a sum of Rs15 crore for development of Rewari and Rs1 crore for Meerpur. Referring to water-related problems in the area, Hooda said that all efforts are being made to augment supply of water. He recalled that in 1991 after becoming MP, he had visited Rewari and promised that if he comes to power, he would do his best to connect Rewari with Rohtak through a railway line and this promise has been fulfilled.
Without naming Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjeet Singh, but giving a clear indication, Hooda said that it is being alleged that his Government is not making equal development in all areas. He said that if one has keep a track of developments, he or she should ask the MlAs or the general public. He said that the development of all the areas of the State is his responsibility, which he is doing, but the development of any individual is not his responsibility.
Organiser of the rally and Power Minister Capt. Ajay Singh Yadav thanked the Chief Minister and said that he had also invited the Gurgaon MP for this rally through a letter written on April 3, the copy of which he had in his hand.
Earlier, Hooda inaugurated several projects and also laid foundation stones of many others involving an investment of over Rs160 crore in Rewari.
