Hooda opens seminar on human rights

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday said getting a clean, efficient, transparent and honest administration is a fundamental right of the citizens, and its negation amounts of violation of the human rights.

Inaugurating a seminar organised by the Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC) in Gurgaon to sensitize revenue officers of the State Government on human rights, Hooda called upon officers to become more sensitive towards human rights of individuals.

Appreciating the efforts made by the HHRC to create awareness among revenue officials, the chief minister said it was vital as this department dealt directly with people. "Officials must ensure that no wrong entry is made in the records and work is done in a transparency manner and on time to enable people to develop faith in the administration," he said.

Chairman of HHRC, Justice (retd) Vijender Jain, said that this was the second seminar organized by the commission to sensitize officers of the Revenue Department. The first seminar was organised for the police department at Panchkula.

"In a democracy, Government is formed by the votes of people and, in turn, the voters want a Government in which officers work in a transparent manner and there is no corruption," he said.
