Hooda lashes out at BJP over Dadupur Nalvi canal project

Published on:

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday said the Dadupur Nalvi canal project has been our dream project and would be revived, after the Congress comes back to power.

Hooda while addressing the people present in the rally at Yamunanagar organised in protest against the decision of the BJP government to cancel the Dadupur canal project, said, “After the formation of the BJP Government, the farmers of Haryana have had to bear huge economic losses.”

The scrapping of Dadupur Nalvi canal has created a threat of loss of millions of hectare land in Yamunanagar, Ambala and Kurukshetra districts, said he.

The senior Congress leader said that the government is making excuses for compensation, whereas the court had fixed the compensation according to the land acquisition policy made during our tenure.

As soon as we get the opportunity, farmers will be compensated for their acquired land, said Hooda.

He added that the anti-farmer Government does not know how much losses the farmers of this area will have to suffer due to cancellation of canal project. While advising the BJP, Hooda said that the formation of Government in democracy is meant for public welfare and not for its own profit.

On  BJP Ministers calling the Dadupur Nalvi canal project a big scandal of the Congress, he said that the scam was done by the BJP by canceling the canal but not by the Congress. So far, more than Rs 300 crores have been spent on this project, which will go waste due to this move, added he.

The two–time former Chief Minister also asked the Government if the farmers who got compensation long time back, are in a position to return it with 15 per cent interest today.

When the Government can waive off the debt for major industrialists like Vijay Mallya and Adani, then what is the problem with the Government to forgive the farmers’ debtsIJ, he added.

A day before, senior Congress leader and AICC media incharge, Randeep Singh Surjewala had also addressed protest rally in Yamunanagar and said that the Congress will ensure revival of canal project and completion on coming to power.
