Haryana CM, Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Wednesday hailed the Ordinance on Food Security Bill and thanked the UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi  and PM Manmohan Singh for the Union Cabinet's decision to promulgate the Ordinance.

Welcoming the decision, Hooda said, “The Ordinance will ensure food security for nation's 2-3rd population. This pro-poor people measure is in perfect syncronisation with the basic philosophy of the Congress to look after the welfare and well being of the poor. The Ordinance will guarantee 5 kg of rice, wheat and coarse cereals per month per person at a fixed price of Rs 3 , Rs 2 and Re 1 respectively.” CM said that this decision would put India in the  band of countries which guarantee foodgrains to majority of population, which is the basic right of a human being.

“With Rs 1.25 lakh crore government support to the measure, the food security programme will be the largest in the world”, he added. The chief Minister said that with this, India would join the select league of countries in the world that guarantee majority of its population foodgrains.
