Hooda followed offence is best defence: Hry CM

launching a scathing attack against former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Wednesday said that as the misdeeds committed during the regime of Hooda are being exposed one by one, he was getting nervous and fearing that he might be behind bars.

Amid the ongoing war of words between the BJP and Congress over the CBI raids at multiple locations in Haryana in connection with questionable allotment of coveted industrial plots during Hooda regime, Manohar lal alleged that Hooda was following the policy of “offence is best defense”.

Hitting out at Hooda, the Chief Minister while talking to the mediapersons said that Bhupinder Singh Hooda is getting scared but all this would not benefit him.

He said that there are several issues about irregularities committed during the regime of former Chief Minister Hooda. These were being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation, Supreme Court and Justice Dhingra Commission. Also, in the same context, 12-13 raids have been conducted, said he.

On making the Prakash Singh Committee’s report public, the Chief Minister said that the Committee’s report is based on facts and findings which would be presented in the High Court at appropriate time.

Meanwhile, the former CM Hooda also hit back at the BJP led Haryana Government on Wednesday saying that the Government is trying to hide its own failures and diverting public’ attention by such acts.

“This is a case of ‘political vendetta’. The CBI may probe the matter, but I have not done anything wrong,” said Hooda following his meeting with more than 1000 party workers and supporters, who gathered here to attend a meeting convened by him.

“The State Government did nothing for the welfare of the people and also, failed to deliver on its poll promises. Thus, the ruling BJP is leveling allegations against the Congress to divert public’s attention,” said Hooda.

Notably, the Central Bureau of Investigation had taken over the case of alleged corruption registered against Hooda, who was chairman of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), and others in connection with “irregular” allocation of 14 Panchkula industrial plots in 2012. After registering the case on May 16, searches were conducted by CBI at 16 locations in New Delhi, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Chandigarh and Rohta

Following the registration of corruption cases and allegations leveled against him, Hooda is now looking at strengthening his support base in the party and the meeting of his supporters was convened in this regard. Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar, ClP leader Kiran Chaudhary stayed away from the meeting.

After the meeting, Hooda announced that he will held meetings in all districts and would also meet people to apprize them about the failure of Manohar lal Khattar Government in Haryana.

The senior Congress leader also demanded that Prakash Singh Committee report which probed into the lapses of official response during Jat quota stir, should be made public. He alongwith other Congress leaders also decided to submit a memorandum to Haryana Governor in this regard.
