Responding to Manohar lal Khattar-led Haryana Government’s slogan of ‘Ek Varsh, Sarvatra Harsh’ celebrating one year in power, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Thursday coined a new slogan ‘Varsh Ek, Dukh Anek’.

The senior Congress leader alleged that there is a spurt in crimes against dalits in Haryana and the Manohar lal Khattar Government has failed to maintain law and order in the State.

“law and order has collapsed in Haryana. Atrocities against dalits have increased manifold in the State under the present BJP regime,” alleged Hooda while addressing a press conference here.

Expressing discontent over the Government's decision to set up an Special Investigation Team to investigate the Gohana incident, he said that a probe by a sitting High Court judge should be ordered into the death of a 15-year-old Dalit boy, accused of stealing a pigeon in Gohana, allegedly in police custody.

"The CM is claiming that the boy committed suicide whereas there were injury marks on his body," alleged Hooda.

Slamming the BJP led Haryana Government, Hooda said that it is unfortunate that the Government is denying caste angle into such incidents and terming it as family conflicts.

He added, “We always took strict action whenever such incidents came to our notice whereas the present government has remained a mute spectator to rising crimes against dalits.”

On the issue of cow protection, Hooda said that the government has brought in tougher laws but did nothing concrete on the ground in this regard.

The former Chief Minister also brought out a question paper asking 21 questions from the ruling BJP Government. Hooda has given 15 days time to the State Government to respond to his question paper.

Several questions are related to promises made by the BJP in its election manifesto during assembly polls last year.

The former Chief Minister also alleged that the Government has failed to procure paddy from farmers at the minimum support price (MSP). “The MSP was fixed at Rs1,450 while the government is purchasing it for Rs1,200. It smacks of a scam,” he said.

The state made no progress in terms of employment and economy under the present government. Instead, the situation has worsened, Hooda alleged.

The BJP Government has not even given unemployment allowance to youths. Services of contractual employees have been terminated, said he while adding that the BJP has failed to deliver on its poll promises.

For the people of Haryana, BJP Government’s one year in power was like ‘Varsh Ek, Dukh Anek’, said Hooda.
