Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who is booked under various corruption cases on Wednesday accused the Haryana Government of acting out of “political vendetta” and slapping cases against him.
“Congress ruled for 10 years in Haryana but there was no corruption charge. The present BJP Government acted out of political vendetta and registered these cases to divert public attention from their own failures,” said Hooda while addressing a 'Meet-The-Press' programme here.
Hooda and 33 others had been chargesheeted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a case of alleged corruption in Manesar land deals worth over Rs 1,500 crore, in which around 200 farmers were alleged to have been cheated.
“Challan has been submitted in the Court in one alleged corruption case. But all such cases are baseless and have been filed to target the party,” he said.
Dhingra Commission was formed only out of political vendetta, he added.
Notably, the BJP had made alleged irregularities in the land deals during the previous Congress regime a major poll issue in 2014. The two-time former CM also named more than 10 scams that he claimed to have taken place during the current BJP Govt in Haryana.
“The claims of zero-tolerance towards corruption made by the present government have proved to be hollow. Cash-for-job scam rocked this government exposing their claims of transparency. No action was taken against HSSC chairman. Many other scams have hit the BJP Government including mining scam, girdwari scam, cash-for-job scam among others,” he alleged.
