Hood blames BJP Govt's 'anti-Dalit' policy in Haryana

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday accused the BJP Government in Haryana of following an “anti-Dalit” policy in the State.

Hooda while addressing a Dalit panchayat in Saha village near Ambala Cantt, alleged that the incidents of atrocities against Dalits have gone up in the BJP Government’s regime in the State.

The two-time former Chief Minister said the Congress will launch an agitation against the alleged “anti-Dalit” policy of the BJP-led Government in the State.

Hooda also claimed the previous Congress Government had started a number of welfare schemes for Dalits. But after the BJP Government came to power, it stopped all such schemes, he said. Former Haryana Congress chief Phool Chand Mulana, former ministers Geeta Bhukkal and Nirmal Singh were also present.

Apart from Dalit panchayat, Hooda has also been holding Kisan panchayat in various parts of Haryana.

The senior Congress leader had recently announced that the party will raise the issue of Dadupur Nalvi irrigation project in the upcoming Haryana Assembly session and will not let the House function if the State Government does not withdraw its decision of scraping the project.

Announcing to withdraw the project, the BJP led Haryana Government had on September 27 claimed that it has not found the Dadupur Nalvi irrigation project feasible after enhancement of the compensation to the farmers following a May 2016 order of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The Dadupur Nalvi irrigation project was initiated in year 1985 and it was approved by government for Rs 13 crore for irrigation and recharging of ground water in the Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra and Ambala districts.

Under the project, 2246.53 acre land was to be acquired for construction of this project, out of which a total of 1019.2994 acre land was acquired but it has been denotified by the present Haryana Government.
