Haryana Chief Minister Manohar lal on Friday directed the Power Department to hold ‘Open Darbars’ at block or sub-division level in the State to promptly redress the grievances of electricity consumers.
The Chief Minister, while presiding over a meeting of the Power Department, also directed it to complete phase-II of ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon’ Scheme in a time bound manner.
He said that ‘Open Darbars’ organised by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) have been very successful and on the same pattern, the Power Department should also organise such darbars to ensure prompt redressal of grievances of power consumers like inflated power bills, defective meters and poles and hanging wires.
While reviewing the progress of ‘Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon Scheme’(MGJGS), the Chief Minister directed the Department to complete phase-II of the scheme in a time bound manner.
He also directed to further bring down the aggregate technical and commercial (AT and C) losses on all Phase-I and Phase-II feeders with the support of district administration, Superintendent Engineers, Executive Engineers and Sub Divisional Officers of Operation Divisions.
During phase-I of ‘MGJGS’, a total of 104 feeders, including 50 of Uttar Haryana Bilji Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and 54 of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) were selected and out of these, work on 31 feeders is completed in case of UHBVN and 26 feeders of DHBVN.
Similarly, in Phase-II of the scheme, a total of 160 feeders, including 80 feeders each of UHBVN and DHBVN were selected and a target has been fixed to complete these feeders by the end of September.
During the meeting, it was informed that the work of relocation of meters, replacement of defective meters, providing lT AB cable in place of bare conductor and release of new connections is completed at most of the feeders and supply hours on the same are increased from 15 to 18 hours.
Also, with a view to further bring down the AT and C losses on all these feeders, each sub-division has been directed to form two teams comprising 4 to 5 employees under the supervision of junior engineers. While one team would perform the task of plugging all theft prone points like covering naked joints and providing distribution boxes, the other team would carry out enforcement activities i.e. the detection of theft of electricity and enforce the inhabitants, who are without electricity connections, to take electricity connections.
On the issue of further improving electricity supply in Gurgaon, the Chief Minister was apprized that the Power Department has prepared a comprehensive plan to provide uninterrupted power supply in Gurgaon.
He was informed that to realize the vision of making Gurgaon diesel-free, the work to supply electricity in 12,000 such flats has been started and that too without any additional investment. Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) has prepared an action plan as per which about 3000 MW capacity would be installed by December this year and this would be further increased to 5000 MW by 2017-18.
