After getting a tumultuous response during his visit to his home district, Himachal chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the state would be on the path of progress as the days of the rajas and emperors were over.
As many as 150 arches and gates had been erected between Slappar and Mandi where thousands of people had lined up on both sides of the road to give him a floral welcome.
He stopped at every gate to exchange greetings. Consequently he reached at the Seri Pavilion over three hours late for the public meeting.
Watching a sea of people trekking down from the green and snowy vales in bone-chilling cold, Thakur said, “My joy knows no bounds. It is ineffable”.
He said he would make all efforts to repay the debt and confidence reposed in him by the God-fearing people of the sacred land of Gods despite huge debt of about Rs 50, 000 crores. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the only ray of hope to bail out the backward hill State
He assured the people of Himachal Pradesh that the nightmarish arbitrary rule of the ex-rulers was over and democratic Government of BJP would continue in the hill state in place of the rule of families of ex-rulers.
.He declared that his government would be the government of the poor and the downtrodden and work for their welfare and prosperity.
