A day after the BJP led Government in the Centre decided to do away with the red beacon lights in official vehicles, Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Acharya Devvrat on Thursday himself removed the red beacon from his official vehicles along-with other vehicles attached with him.
Before leaving to New Delhi in the morning, he directed his staff to remove red beacons from his vehicles and thereafter on reaching
New Delhi, he directed to discard red beacons from the official vehicles made available there.
The Governor hailed the decision of the Union Cabinet to ban red beacons atop cars of all ministers, politicians and bureaucrats adding that it was a historic decision, which would help in ending VIP culture in the country. He said this would also help in checking the misuse of red beacons by the anti social elements.
