Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Saturday said that there was a need to create more Municipal Corporations in big towns of the state for ensuring organised and planned development of these towns with public participation.

Addressing a civic reception ceremony organised by the newly elected members of Municipal Corporation at Dari in Dharamshala, he said the people of Dharamshala town not only agreed to his proposal of opening Municipal Corporation but also gave their mandate to the Congress party candidates in recently held MC polls, where 14 out of 17 candidates affiliated with the Congress party won.

He said that Municipal Corporations assist in paving the way for development in a planned and phased manner.

Dharamshala was the second capital of the State and for-seeing this, the move to shift Board of School Education to Dharamshala was also taken.

He said he wanted equal development of all areas of the state, as Himachal Pradesh to him was one and nobody could divide it on the basis of region and religion.
