Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Friday inaugurated and laid foundation stones of developmental projects worth about Rs 200 crore in Una Vidhan Sabha Constituency.
Addressing a public meeting at old bus stand Una, the Chief Minister took a jibe at the condition of the Congress in the State and the Centre and said that on the one hand the Congress leaders were on ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, on the other hand several Congress leaders at the Centre and in the State were on ‘Congress Chhoro’ campaign. He said that senior leaders like Gulam Nabi Azad had left the Congress and several leaders of the State like Pawan Kajal, Lakhvinder Rana, Yog Raj and Harsh Mahajan etc had left the Congress to join the BJP.
Thakur said that the Union Government had sanctioned a Bulk Drug Park for Himachal Pradesh which would prove a boon to the economy of the State, adding that this Park would be set up at Haroli in Una district. He said that with the setting up of a bulk drug park, India's dependence on China for raw materials would be minimized and thousands of crores of rupees would be saved as the pharma companies in Himachal would get the raw material in the State itself and the manufacturing of medicines would also become cheaper, thereby reducing the cost of medicine. He also accused the Congress leaders of trying to sabotage the sanctioning of this project for the State. Now, when this project had been sanctioned, the same leaders were claiming that it was their dream project, he added.
The Chief Minister said that the present Government was spending over Rs 1300 crore annually on providing social security pension to the needy as compared to only Rs. 400 crore spent by the previous State Government.
Union Information and Broadcasting. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that the Satellite Centre of PGI was coming up at Una with a cost of over Rs 400 crore, which would provide specialized health care facilities to the people of the area. He said that IIT Mandi, IIM Sirmaur, Central University Kangra were a few gifts the Centre Government had provided for the people of the State.
