Alleging foul play in the alleged leakage of party candidate’s list for the Himachal Assembly polls, the opposition BJP on Monday made it clear that the party had not prepared any list of candidates.
Reacting to the alleged leakage of list of BJP candidates for the coming polls on social media, the party lodged a complaint with cyber crime cell of Himachal Pradesh police.
In a press statement, BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti said that a complaint was lodged in cyber crime cell, Shimla as a list of candidates having name of 68 candidates of BJP went viral in the social media without any official release from its state officials.
BJP leaders are said to have faced the ire of central leadership over this goof up of the leakage of list. The leaked list caught attention as names of some Congress leaders, including Transport Minister G.S.Bali also figured in the list. The legal action by the BJP has come days after the alleged list had gone viral. Congress leader G S Bali in a response to media, over inclusion of his name in the list had said that BJP president Amit Shah had denied releasing such a list.
Sati on Monday said that this list was shared on social networking sites and party was forced to lodge a complaint in the cyber cell as it was creating confusion. He said that party has not released any lists and the list released in the social media was fake.
The party would not hesitate to take stringent action on its own party office bearers and workers if they were found indulged in uploading and sharing this fake list. The complaint was lodged by the IT wing state convener Ravi Rana taking strong cognizance of the list.
Taking a precautionary measure for the future, Himachal BJP has decided to form a five member committee to keep a check on social media and apprise the party president about the information making rounds in social media about the party.
