A heritage walk cum guided tour of Chandigarh’s Capitol Complex was organised on Sunday. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chandigarh Council organised the event with an active support of Chandigarh Tourism. Kicked off by Anurag Aggarwal, UT Home Secretary and  Amarbir Singh, chairman, CII Chandigarh Council, the heritage walk and tour was seamlessly guided at each point by students of Chandigarh College of Architecture(CCA) 12 as tourist guides.

The CCA is offering voluntary service to promote Capitol complex and make the general public aware of le Corbusier’s thought process and unique architectural wisdom behind these masterpieces. The participants who included 50 CII Chandigarh Council members along with their spouses and kids were absolutely enthralled with the architectural masterpieces of le Corbusier, set against the Shivalik peaks which include three edifices — Punjab and Haryana High Court, Secretariat and legislative Assembly; in addition to other masterpieces like Open hand  Chandigarh’s Emblem, martyrs’ memorial, Geometric Hill and the Tower of Shadows which traces the path of the sun through shadows and acts as a natural cooler.

Anurag Aggarwal, UT Home Secretary shared that “The Complex is a unique architectural miracle and commands huge significance not just in India but also in the world. We are getting a lot of queries, suggestions and feedback on which we would certainly work to make the visitors’ experience even more memorable and thrilling”.
