A headmaster and a teacher-in-charge of midday meal with a Government senior secondary school at Nehrugarh village in Rewari here were placed under suspension with immediate effect after the school children were found sitting without mats on the floor during a meal time.
Rewari Deputy Commissioner (DC) RC Verma issued the suspension orders and also directed other staff members of the school to strictly abide by the guidelines pertaining to midday meal or face the action. No laxity would be tolerated while complying with the guidelines, he said.
The DC was on a surprise visit to Government schools of the district on Saturday. “Midday meal was being served to around 250 students in Nehrugarh School when the DC reached there for inspection. The children were sitting without any mat on the ground and were taking food,” said the sources.
The DC immediately called headmaster Suresh Kumar and the midday meal in-charge, Meenakshi there and sought explanation from them. Both were suspended for not giving any satisfactory reply, he said.
Meanwhile, Verma said that the school headmasters were directed to make proper arrangement of either mat or benches while serving the midday meal to the students. They were also asked to keep a regular check on the quality of food, he added.
“But, it is learnt that most of the school heads are not paying any heed towards these directives and the students have to sit on the floor without mat to take the midday meal,” said the DC.
It is not only the State of affairs of Government schools in Rewari district but the same practice is being followed in other districts of the State as well.
