HC sets aside PTIs' selection

Published on:

Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday set aside the selection of 1,983 physical training instructors (PTIs) made by the Haryana Government in 2010. It has also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the Haryana Government and Rs10,000 on Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) for committing fraud in selection process.

A division bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice SK Gupta confirmed the decision of Justice Augustine George Masih who had quashed the selection of 1,983 teachers in September 2012 after it found out that all decisions were solely taken by the chairman of the Haryana Staff Selection Commission (SSC) without involving other members of the commission.

The decision of Justice Masih was challenged by unsuccessful candidates in the Division Bench of the High court.
